Second Teacher at BVIs Elmore Stoutt High Faces Molestation Allegations Amid Growing Concerns
(VI Consortium) Weeks after persistent reports about the molestation of a student at the Elmore Stoutt High School in the British Virgin Islands finally attracted a response from the territory’s Ministry of Education, a second teacher is now facing similar allegations.
Once again, the Ministry has addressed the allegations with a statement that provides little information about the nature of the official response. “We want to emphasize our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and integrity in our schools,” officials said in a statement issued on Thursday.
The Ministry also said that it has “implemented immediate and appropriate measures to ensure that the school environment remains safe.” Similarly to the last statement issued in September, what those measures are was not disclosed. However, the public was assured that the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force was conducting an investigation into the matter, as was the territory’s Social Development Department.
Because of the sensitive nature of the allegations, the Ministry has indicated that further details would not be forthcoming at this time.
