Sheikh Faisal releases new book chronicling history of Qatar, its people
HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al-Thani is launching a new book documenting Qatar’s journey through inspiring events, rare photos, and documents since the time of his grand grandparents until today.
Titled “Qatar We Lived, Its History, People & Rulers,” the book will be available to the public during the Doha International Book Fair, taking place from January 13 Thursday until January 22.
The book includes 10 chapters (covering 452 pages), discussing milestones in Qatar's history since its inception, and its transformation from a mere geographical concept to an independent state with a distinctive culture and pioneering regional and international roles under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
The book, distributed by Hamad Bin Khalifa University Publishing House, includes important chapters, including Qatar’s Beginning, The Ruling Family, The Culture of Qatar, The Years of Hardship, The Qatar Miracle, The Era of Steadfastness, The Difficult Test, Inspirational Qatari Women, and The Immortal Legacy, among others.

Faisal Al-Qasim (Arabic: فيصل القاسم; born June 3, 1961), also written as Faisal Al-Kasim is a British-Syrian television personality based in Qatar, who is known for hosting the controversial live debate show The Opposite Direction (Arabic: الاتجاه المعاكس) on Al Jazeera, where two guests with contradicting points of views debate on various topics but mostly topics related to politics of the Arab world. Early life
[edit]Faisal Al-Qassim was born in 1961 in the village of Al-Tha'lah, Al-Suwayda Governorate, Syria. He is from the Druze religious minority in Syria. He graduated in 1983 from the University of Damascus with a degree in English Literature, and later received his Ph.D. from the University of Hull in 1990. At Hull, he initially studied drama, later moving on to television.[4]
