Anwar Jahan Zuberi, Educationist, Served as Vice Chancellor of Calicut University from 2007 to 2011. She has the distinction of being the first female Vice-Chancellor of Calicut University and the first Muslim woman to serve as Vice Chancellor of an Indian University. Prior to taking up the position, Dr. Zuberi worked as Professor of Education at Aligarh Muslim University.
During her stewardship of Calicut University several achievements and academic and administrative reform have been noted. When only two of the universities in Kerala went for NAAC re-accreditation in 2010, Calicut University got top score. The university was reorganized to introduce a ‘school system’ to convert various disciplines and departments into cohesive units
